And They Sometimes Call It Nude

But we, we know it's khaki. It could be shorts.

Or a dress.

But either way you can wear the "nude" with this bracelet for a touch of the my-great-great-uncle-studied-remote-tribes-in-Africa look that Banana Republic and J. Peterman revered. And Hollister Hovey espouses today.

And if you do, as long as everything else is played down, you will get the High WASP seal of approval, although it may come via a sideways glance.

Just - please - no metallic sandals here.

Definitely not (re. the brassy sandals). Far too harsh.

One of my English posh tottie friends does this look perfectly and she happens to be an Anthropologist. Sometimes she wears quite exotic earrings (but always smooth, one colour, expensive, not too mental) or a pretty, ethnic shawl (and again, always with a simple, quality dress and smart black, thin leather sandals).

Jill, you are exempt from this entire canon. I just need to know what you call your style guide...you gotta have a name for it.

I love the mention of a sideways glance. So true.

My mother has always been the biggest khaki fan. For that reason alone I avoided it until I was close to 30. It really is a jack-of-all-trades.
Of course, I really like the bracelets more.

Oh yeah? Well, I have silver metallic strappy sandals that are a takeoff on the general style of the now-tradish' Bass crisscross crepe ones with the suede footbed, but they have a great little heel. I think they would work. So there. :)

I have to LOL about the word "nude" for khaki...makes me think of pantyhose! :)

Ditto for me on the nude making me think of pantyhose. Nude is such a weird word anyway.

Thank you for reading and commenting on the Jason Show! I will see you around!

I am still not sure about metallic shoes, but perhaps it could work if you traded it for the bracelets/accessories or made the accessories more bold/chunky it could work. I would wear some sandals with some beading/ jewels detailing. But I am no HW and I like layering and a slight clash. Like I said, no HW.

Oh my, so with you on the metallic sandals. There is something about gold lame that reminds me of women of a certain age parading around in Miami back in the sixties!

What is with the metallic sandal hate? This is not the first we have seen of you + metallic sandal trouble.

Hahaha. I LIKE metallic sandals. I promise. In the right place and time. I like them when they are unpredictable. Unpredictable yet not bang in your face. Here, I just think they are too predictable and would undo the impact of the bracelets. Which I love BTW. I suppose layering and no clash is a good way to put it.

I love all of these, but I am not a fan of high waisted anything!

The clarification on the sandals is helpful, we were a tad concerned despite owning only one pair that can be described as metallic. We fear that despite our liking it, the dress could be a tad short. Sniff.

I adore nude shoes because they elongate the legs and being a mere 5 feet 4 inches, I need it.

Plus, who can say no to a pair of patent nude peep-toes?

Lovely post.

I was just going to say what FabBlab said, but she beat me to it. I need to do some leg elongating (is that a word?!)...

I confess I've been eyeing the nude shoes out now and trying to imagine a reason I might need a pair.
